Design Podcasts - Part 1 Boagworld
Here’s the first installment of our design related podcast review series. Every Monday we will be publishing a review of a podcast which we here at DesignerMojo find inspiring. This week I am going to cover what I consider to be one of the most entertaining and informative podcasts relating to Web Design, Boagworld.
Boagworld is a podcast hosted by Paul Boag and Marcus Lillington and has been running for quite a while now. I first got in to the Boagworld podcast by accident, Paul Boag did a guest appearance (can you call guest speaking on a podcast an appearance? ) on Dustin Diaz’s podcast. I thought he was a fellow Brit with a sarcastic sense of humor and that his podcast was probably worth checking out, I’ve been an avid follower ever since.
The Boagworld podcast is released once a week on Tuesdays. You can tell from the start that they don’t take themselves too seriously. The format of the podcast is a light hearted look at what’s new in the world of the web.
The presenters have a great banter between them which makes the whole podcast entertaining and each episode is finished off with the now world famous joke from Marcus (listen and you’ll find out what the fuss is about).
It is true that the podcast is a promotional tool for Headscape, the company behind the podcast and website boagworld.com, however apart from the odd plug here and there it has a very non commercial feel.
It’s not all humor and sarcastic British wit, each episode is packed full of advice, tips, news and views. It impresses me how they can keep coming up with fresh and informative shows after over 80 episodes (Episode 86 is their latest at time of writing).
The podcast is backed up with a great website and forum. The website has a blog which is regulraly updated by Paul Boag and a very useful links section with some hand picked web related links and resources.
The website has a popular forum and seems to have a dedicated community following of like minded web developers.
If you are looking for a welcome distraction from the daily grind, or just want to learn some new things whilst having a laugh on your daily commute, I would highly recommend the Boagworld podcast.

That is the kind of podcast I would listen to, it is difficult listening to some of them - full of information but dry and humourless.
I will check this one out, thanks!
